How Does It Work?

We’ll guide you through every step. From your first chat with us to getting the funding paid out, the process is clear and straightforward. You’ll get practical advice, help with the paperwork, and support all the way through the project.

1. Get in touch

Start by reaching out to us. We’ll arrange a short, no-pressure call to talk through your business, your building, and what kind of improvements you’re thinking about. This is your chance to ask questions and see if the grant is a good fit.

2. Site visit and advice

Next, we’ll book a visit with one of our qualified advisers. They’ll come to your site, take a look at the current setup, and suggest the most practical changes—ones that will cut energy use, reduce emissions, or help you adapt to the climate.

3. Create a plan

We’ll help you turn the advice into a simple plan. This includes outlining what changes you want to make, what they’ll cost, and what kind of impact they’ll have. We’ll also help you complete the application forms so everything is ready to submit.

4. Apply for the grant

Once your application is in, it’ll be reviewed. If it’s approved, you can go ahead with the work. The funding is paid out once the improvements are complete and have been signed off.

5. Make the changes

You choose who carries out the work. We don’t dictate suppliers or contractors, but we’re here if you want a second opinion or run into issues. Once everything’s done and checked, you’ll receive the grant payment.

So, what are you waiting for?

You could receive up to £30,000, depending on your project and how well it meets the criteria.

Yes. The grant is paid after the work is completed, so you’ll need to cover the costs first. We’ll help you plan for this.

Things like insulation, solar panels, LED lighting, low-carbon heating, EV chargers, and water-saving measures. If it helps reduce emissions or adapt to climate change, it likely counts.

Not necessarily. If you lease your premises and have permission to make improvements, you can still apply.

Yes. You stay in control of who does the work. We can give guidance if needed, but the final choice is yours.

From first contact to grant approval, it usually takes a few weeks. It depends on how quickly the application is submitted and how complex the project is.

That’s what we’re here for. Just get in touch—we’ll help you figure out what’s possible and guide you through the next steps.

Yes. This grant is specifically for SMEs based in the Dumfries and Galloway area.
