This project involved the complete electrical installation for a new farm shed located in Redhills, Dumfries, providing a safe, efficient, and durable electrical system to support all operational requirements.
Scope of Works
Lighting Installation
A full LED lighting system was installed to ensure bright, uniform illumination throughout the shed. This includes both general and task lighting to optimise visibility and working conditions in all areas.
Emergency Lighting
Emergency lighting was fitted in accordance with current regulations, ensuring safe and visible evacuation routes in the event of a power outage.
Power and Socket Outlets
Multiple socket outlets were installed throughout the shed, providing convenient access to power for machinery, tools, and general electrical equipment. Circuits were designed and installed to meet agricultural safety standards and specific load requirements.
Scraper System Installation
Four automated scrapers were installed, each complete with a motor and control system. All units were wired into the main distribution board and tested to ensure reliable operation for ground cleaning and waste management.
New Supply and Panel Board Upgrade
A new supply cable was installed from the existing plant room to the new shed to provide a dedicated and robust power feed. As part of the works, the existing panel board was upgraded to accommodate the additional load and to ensure future capacity and compliance with current electrical standards.
Electrical Inspection and Condition Report (EICR)
A full Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) was carried out for the entire farm, verifying the integrity, safety, and compliance of all existing electrical installations. Any identified remedial works were documented and addressed as part of the project.
Summary
The installation delivers a robust, energy-efficient, and fully compliant electrical system, purpose-built for agricultural use. The setup supports all aspects of farm operations and ensures long-term reliability in demanding working conditions.
